Ovation Plan

Timeshare consumers have recently been hot on the trail of the Ovation plan launched last year by Wyndham. Our prospective clients in some Wyndham resorts can get out of their Timeshare themselves and via the Ovation program.

Many consumers ask us for more information about Wyndham’s Exit program, known as Ovation, which was featured in an Ask RedWeek article in April 2015. They want to know whether it is up and running and in operation. TESS has been investigating the position and can confirm that the program is up and running and last year 10,700 Wyndham Owners have used Ovation Program and to get out of their Timeshares

The Ovation plan was not widely publicised, however after 1 year the News has spread and to date, 10,700 owners have employed the program and to get out of their unwanted Timeshare. The plan is gaining traction and could be rolled out worldwide if other resorts toed the ethical line.

Wyndham has approximately 900,000 members and 25,000 have made enquiries, however not all were accepted by the Ovation plan or they did not take up the offer. It can be equally said that after careful thought they decided to keep their Timeshare and when the reality of disposal came home to roost. Timeshare Exits, Relinquishments or Terminations should only be actioned when careful and thoughtful consideration has taken place.

If you do terminate or leave Timeshare you may be giving up something which in reality you want and which can bring you future benefits. Scaremongering can occur and from those who seek to sell you a legal dream. If you are faced with many horror stories you might be having your cognitive reasoning affected in the pursuit of others obtaining high fees.

Don’t be fooled.

Wyndham says “it assisted 12,827 owners who were seeking an exit plan”. That said USA blog forums are littered with good and bad Ovation stories. At all times you must be reasonable and consider what it would cost you to employ a legal expert.

Wyndham made a bold step and it’s a shame that the offer has been hijacked by unscrupulous enterprises who clambered upon an opportunity and raised campaigns for them to assist you through the Ovation process. In short, each and every consumer can do it for themselves and free of charge. There is no need for others to assist.

So What timeshare terminations are available.

The ovation was crafted (in part) to protect Wyndham Timeshare owners and from being victimised by unscrupulous and rouge Exit company, including the cold calling scam artists. The program is a no-fee program and offers qualifying owners three main exit plans: listed below: -

  • For Timeshare owners who have a wish to sell their Timeshares, Wyndham promises to provide referrals to authenticated and licensed reseller. They also refer to other non-licenced resellers on the condition that the consumer is not charged an up-front fee. Wyndham does not keep track of what happens to those Timeshare owners who use the preferred list of resellers. It is also claimed that only 1% of timeshare owners use this option.
  • Qualifying Timeshare owners can also transfer their club points or deed them back to Wyndham under what is called the C.A.P program. This option is the most popular Ovation program by far, as it appeals to Timeshare owners who simply want to get out of Timeshare, give up ownership and stop the endless maintenance fees.
  • A third and final option available in Ovation is named “The Limited Edition program”. It enables Wyndham Club owners to surrender their Wyndham-purchased points and back to the club [while retaining user rights to travel, with no maintenance fees, for three years]. This option is favoured by roughly 10 percent of the Ovation participants.

In contrast to many European Developer-led resorts, Wyndham offers a hardship “exit program” for people suffering from financial pressure. This Exit program is not technically part of the Ovation program, however, can be of real Benefit. Most reputable Timeshare companies also offer similar-sounding hardship programs.

Wyndham is reluctant to publicize the Ovation options, as they believe that it will affect their income generation streams. We, however, disagree as the offer goes some way to reinforce a fair and reasonable brand. That said, Ovation might be withdrawn if their business models are affected, as it does hinge on selling new Timeshares, not taking back old ones.

Wyndham Explain, the Company incurred costs of approximately $20 million over the past year by taking back unwanted Timeshares through Ovation, including paying off their maintenance fees and taxes. This cost Wyndham explains might come back to them eventually, if and when it resells the deeded-back club points.
